This Violet Turacao at the World of Birds in Cape Town was an unwilling poser. He really didn’t want his portrait taken but the more he dodged and ducked the more I wanted a shot of him and finally after frames of wasted effort got this single shot worth keeping.
Violet Turacaos have strikingly beautiful colored red and yellow face set off against dark violet plumage. These medium sized birds are endemic to the forests of West Africa. Sadly this guy and his mate are confined to a small avery at the World of Birds dodging tourists and photographers like me.
